NSF-PAR (Public Access) Changes

  • Removal of the 12-month embargo for PDF publications.

  • PAR Identifiers (PAR IDs) will serve as persistent identifiers similar to DOIs.
  • PIDs when available should provided for PAR records when available, when not available minimal descriptive metadata should be provided.
  • Research findings and data should be publicly shared in a reasonable time, with little cost. Reasonable measures should be taken to protect privileged and confidential information and limited exceptions to sharing requirement may be required for such purposes as protecting subject and integrity of collections and must be requested in the Data Management and Sharing Plan at time of Proposal Submission. Prior approval is required for adjustments or exception to the Data Management and Sharing Plan.
