Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) would like to inform you about an important update regarding the assignment of grant numbers. For all new awards set up on or after July 1, 2024, the InfoEd record number will correspond to the last five digits of the PeopleSoft grant number.
There is no change to existing award numbers or how campus uses the grant number. This change is part of SPA’s grants modernization project and will allow campus to associate the proposal and award record more easily.
Please note the following details regarding this change:
- Grant Number Format:
- The three-letter prefix of the grant number will remain unchanged.
- The last five digits of the InfoEd record number will be used as the grant number.
- Example:
- InfoEd Record Number: 24-145
- Grant Number: G1A24145
2. Duplicate Grant Numbers:
- If the five-digit number has already been used in PeopleSoft, a 00 will be added at the end of the five digits.
- Example:
- Grant Number: G1A2414500 (if G1A24145 is already in use)
3. Multiple Grant Numbers for a Single Award (this is rare):
- If an award requires more than one grant number, additional grant numbers will be assigned with 01, 02, etc., appended to the grant number.
- Example:
- Additional Grant Numbers: G1A2414501, G1A2414502, G1A2414503
